DEXTER -- Robert C. Adams, 80, died Jan. 5, 2009, at his home.
Born June 1, 1929 at Limestone, Ark., son of the late Floyd Adams and Nannie Brown Adams, he was the office manager for Averett and Son Implement and ProAg in Dexter for over 40 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he had served during the Korean War.
On Oct. 31, 1959 at Circle City, he married Lena Tharp, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Crystal Burress of Jackson and Stephanie Thomason of Dudley: three brothers, Leonard Adams of Bell City, Hearold Adams of Morehouse and A. C. Adams of Sikeston; five grandchildren, Blake Burress, Caitlin Burress, Jared Thomason, Jacob Standridge and Lindsay Vinson; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by: one daughter, Dana Louise Standridge: four brothers, Delmar Adams, Herschel Adams, Billie Adams and James Adams; and two sisters, Sammie Tinnon and one in infancy.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. The Revs. Jerry Adams and Donald Adams will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
