SIKESTON - The bodies of two former Sikeston servicemen are among the 15 being returned to Southeast Missouri from the Pacific, according to an announcement from the department of the Army. They are James R. Hailey and William Spencer.

SIKESTON - The city of Sikeston Friday filed a petition for an injunction in circuit court in Benton to prevent the Missouri Utilities Co. from extending its electrical lines into areas not previously served by the company in Sikeston.

SIKESTON - For those who haven't purchased a Sikeston city sticker, there is a momentary reprieve. The deadline was Jan. 1, but because so many people wanted to buy stickers through the mail, the city faces a logjam of requests. The stickers will sell for $2.50 for a private vehicle and $3.50 for one used in a business.

CHARLESTON -The Charleston girls basketball team dropped a foul-filled 69-44 decision Saturday afternoon in Doniphan. Five players - three for Charleston - fouled out of the game. "It was a pretty physical game out there," said Bluejay Coach Beverly Wright. "The referees were calling it tight but we hung in there."

SIKESTON - Avis Hupp of Sikeston won the prize quilt of a raffle conducted recently at the Sikeston Convalexcent Center. Effie Bohannon made and donated the quilt for the raffle, with proceeds benefiting the Residents Council.

SIKESTON - Beulahland Fellowship and area merchants will sponsor a "Love Your Neighbor" benefit singing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the former Revival Center in Sikeston. Featured will be The New Hinsons from Hendersonville, Tenn., and local talent. Proceeds will benefit medical needs of three area families.
