NEW MADRID -- Linda Ellen Spitler, 61, died Jan. 12, 2009, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Dec. 21, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of the late Theon and Cornetta Seyer, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Tri Delta, Bridge Club and secretary for the Immaculate Conception Catholic School Board in New Madrid for many years. A retired teacher, she taught PSR classes at Immaculate Conception School, development training for Manpowe and at New Madrid County R-1 School District for 25 years.
On June 27, 1970, in Kelso, she married Charles Spitler, who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John Charles and Jamie Spitler of Kirkwood; two sisters Marilyn (Curtis) Levan of St. Louis; Judy (Bill) Bane of Cape Girardeau; and two nephews, Kent Levan of St. Louis and Kevin Scott of Cape Girardeau.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
