SIKESTON - A train wreck was reported in Sikeston last night as the result of the earth shocks, which shook the city at 9:44 o'clock. No one was injured with the possible exception of Allen Blanton's patience when the tremors shook his electric train off its track at the Charles L. Blanton Jr. home on North Ranney.
SIKESTON - R.P. Buchmuller will be presiding over the annual winter meeting of the Mid Central Region of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. The meeting will held tomorrow and Saturday in Chicago.
SIKESTON - Percussionists Jason Croxford, Jason Miller, Robyn Sloan and Ryan Graham practiced "Carillon" by Ron Cowherd in a mid-afternoon rehearsal of the seventh grade band directed by Pat Curry. A portion of band members will be trying out Jan. 28 in Sikeston for the Junior High School Honor Band.

JEFFERSON CITY - Higher education officials and those in elementary and secondary education say they need more money. Dennis Ziegenhorn (D-Sikeston) says the Missouri Legislature has spent $1 billion for elementary and secondary education funding alone over the past seven years.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public Schools Board of Education has elected Randy Thompson as the new director of transportation. He was previously employed as the district's truancy officer and has served as supervisor of the Alternative School for the past two years.

NEW MADRID - "Songs to Warm Your Heart" will be presented Saturday at the Dixie Theater. Along with Replica, performers will include Joey Myers and Brenda Guttenfelder of Sikeston; LeRoy Eftink and Becki Scheeter of Oran; Lori Brotherson of Kewanee; and Ralph Palmer of New Madrid. The Dixie Players are hosting the event.
