NEW HAMBURG -- Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Heuring recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple received a special blessing by the Rev. Normand Varone, pastor, during a 4 p.m. Mass celebrated Jan. 11 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.
A dinner and dance with family and friends followed at the church parish center, where a meal was catered by David Dirnberger of New Hamburg and cake created by Berniece Kern of New Hamburg. A video about the couple made by their granddaughter, Ashley Beggs of Benton, played throughout the evening for guests. Disc jockey Randy Elfrink of Renegade Sound System provided music for the occasion. Mrs. Heuring's brother, Kenneth Chapman of Gordonville sang Alan Jackson's "Remember When" for the couple's first dance. He also sang for guests throughout the dinner and dance.
Heuring and the former Margaret Chapman were married Jan. 11, 1959, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. They have three children, Sheila Beggs of Benton, Dean Heuring of New Hamburg and the late Kenny Joe Heuring; and seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
Heuring worked for 31 years at Homestead Distributing Co. in Sikeston before retiring in 1996. Mrs. Heuring worked as the secretary/bookkeeper for Kelso C-7 School in New Hamburg from 1970 to 2002.
