EAST PRAIRIE - Larry Reed Emerson, 65, died at 12:20 a.m. Jan. 27, 2009 in the St. Francis Medical Center.

Born Jan. 4, 1944, at East Prairie to the late Cecil and Helen Drury Emerson, he lived most of his life in East Prairie where he was a truck driver for Maverick Transportation . He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in East Prairie and a veteran of the Army serving during the Vietnam Era.

On Aug. 11, 1967 he married Ruth Elaine Kersey.

Ruth Elaine Emerson, 61, died at 2:30 a.m. Jan. 29, 2009 in the St. Francis Medical Center.

Born May 6, 1947 at East Prairie to the late Orval and Liza Mae Loomas Kersey, she lived in East Prairie all of her life where she was a teacher's aide at the Doyle School in East Prairie. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church of East Prairie.

Survivors include; one son and his fiancÚ, Larry Reed Emerson, II & Bailey Penrod of East Prairie; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Missy amd Terry Wheatley, Monica and Morris Branam and Jennifer Henderson all of East Prairie; and nine grandchildren, Dustin, Marlana, Tyler, Madelyn, Levi, Jordan, Matt, Abbey and Jesse.

Mr. Emerson is also survived by one sister, Charlene Aycock of Chicago. One sister, Roselene Lancaster, preceded him in death.

Mrs. Emerson is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Joyce Kersey; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Obrey Cogdill and Cindy and Danny Bright of East Prairie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Ross Kersey and Orval Elmo Kersey; and two sisters, Iva Earlene and Mary Evelyn Kersey.

Friend may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday. Buddy Hannah and Ernest Brown will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Wheatley, Morris Branam, Obrey Cogdill, Billy Kersey, Elmo Kersey and Danny Bright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pee Wee Cogdill, Willard Turner, Kevin Burney and Charles Byassee.
