Theon Schmitt

CHAFFEE -- Theon John Schmitt, 60, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 16, 1948, at Oran, son of Maudie Louise Biby Schmitt of Chaffee and the late Linus Cletus, he was a janitor at St. Ambrose Catholic Church where he was a member and of the church's Men's Club and of the Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

On Feb. 14, 1977, he married Karen Sue Gloth, whoh survives of Chaffee.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are: a son, Michael Schmitt of Chaffee; two daughters, Stephanie Hobbs of Batesville, Ark., Candy Collom of Jonesboro, Ark.; two brothers, Cletus and Donald Schmitt of Chaffee; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Ambrose Church where parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.

Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery under the direction of Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
