High winds may hamper crews

SIKESTON - Although electric companies continue to report success in restoring electrical power, city officials are also keeping a close eye on the weather forecast.

"Our area has received weather reports for a northwest wind in excess of 30 mph," said Sgt. Jim McMillen. "Winds of this speed have the potential to damage trees, especially those with broken limbs. It is very possible these broken limbs may fall and further damage power lines, even those that have been recently repaired. Area residents should prepare for additional power outages that may occur."
