BENTON -- Scott County voters will head to the polls on Tuesday. The sole issue on the ballot will be whether to waive the county portion of their real estate and personal property taxes in exchange for a half-cent sales tax.
The election was originally set for Feb. 3, but rescheduled due to a petition by County Clerk Rita Milam due to the massive power outages and other issues brought by the winter storm that hit the region the last week of January.
The recent disaster to commissioners is proof the measure needs to be approved. Extra funds generated will help pay for cleanup and response to similar issues.
