SIKESTON -- The unemployed probably aren't thinking about the April 15 tax deadline, but they should be.
Those who who drew any unemployment in 2008 may need to file a tax return and should consider contacting a tax professional, according to Phil Cluck, owner of Fax Tax in Sikeston.
"For one thing, all unemployment benefits are certainly taxable and a lot of people don't understand that," said Margie Dobbs, general manager for the Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Sikeston. "It changes their adjusted gross income and can affect all of the credits they may be eligible for also."
