SIKESTON -- Unemployment rates are growing and there have been some recent layoffs in the area. But the number of businesses signed up to look for employees at this week's area job fair shows there are still plenty of open positions in the area.
As of Friday, 21 businesses had signed up to participate in this year's Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce/Missouri Career Center job fair, set for Wednesday at the Clinton Building.
"These employers are either currently looking for employees or they know in the near future they are going to need employees," said Missy Marshall, executive director of the SACC. "If you're looking for a job, it's a great opportunity. But if you're looking at changing jobs, it's also a good opportunity to investigate the possibilities."
