Scott County Sheriff's Department purchases iris recognition equipment

BENTON -- With a new system in place, the Scott County Sheriff's Department can confirm identities with a quick look at the eyes.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter announced Tuesday that his office has implemented The Child Project and Senior Safety Net, systems that enable them to enroll, identify and locate missing children and adults using iris recognition biometric technology. The system will also be used for registering convicted sex offenders and jail inmates.
