Grant money possibilities are explored

Friday, March 20, 2009

BENTON -- Scott County commissioners are looking into whatever grants are possible, to help pay the expenses for needed items.

During their regular meeting on Thursday, they reviewed a list of grant opportunities given to them from David Dolan, circuit court judge.

"This is just a list of the ones that are coming out now," Dolan told commissioners. "Apparently Missouri is getting a big wad of money (some stimulus dollars) and they're taking applications now on what to do with it.)

Dolan received the list of grant opportunities from the Office of Court Administration at a presiding judge meeting he attended last week. "This is just for your information," said Dolan.

One thing Dolan said he would like to focus on is applying for a generator for the entire courthouse through the Rural Communities Facilities Program and the Department of Agriculture. "I would really like to see that," he said.
