COLUMBIA -- With the Portageville Bulldogs battling foul trouble throughout most of the game and one of their senior leaders on the bench late in the game because of it, Portageville still managed to pull out a 60-53 victory over the Miller Cardinals in their state semifinal game at Mizzou Arena on Thursday morning.
"We got in foul trouble and we found a way to kind of adapt," Portageville head coach Jim Bidewell said. "The bench came through for us.
"I felt like we didn't play our best ballgame. I guess we did what we had to do to win. I don't know why we came out a little sluggish. Could be pre-game jitters [or] could be a lot of different things. But, we found a way to win."
