ORAN -- After an impressive state run last season for the Oran Eagles baseball team, head coach Mitch Wood says his squad is back in 2009 and ready to get to work. Though the Eagles don't have quite the senior leadership or numbers that they've had in recent memory, Wood says the team is learning quickly and improving daily.
One highlight that Oran has returning is senior hurler Jayden Pobst. Pobst spent last summer playing prospect ball and Wood says he's in shape and ready to go right out of the gate.
"We've got a few coming back," said Wood. "Of course Pobst is coming back to pitch for us which is a plus. He's played all summer and through the winter. He's a good pitcher, he's throwing the ball around the low 90s and he's finally realized that hitting his spots is an important thing.
