Grade levels and school starting times are reviewed
SIKESTON -- A citizens group on Wednesday explored the idea of doing away with grade levels in the Sikeston R-6 School District as a possible way to improve student performance.
In Sikeston, a kindergarten student whose birth date is in May, June or July is three times as more likely not to be ready for the first grade than other students born between August through April, superintendent Steve Borgsmiller told members of the district's Citizens Advisory Committee.
