Man is charged with child abuse

SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man is in jail for seriously injuring his girlfriend's 8-month-old child who remains in critical condition and on life support.

Kevin Cortez Dixon, 18, of Sikeston was arrested Monday and later charged with child abuse and first-degree assault with serious bodily injury, according to a Sikeston Department of Public Safety news release.
