Local students get 'hands-on experience'

Nearly 200 students take part in annual Ecology Day Monday

ORAN -- Rob Askew knows no matter how much he teaches his students out of the textbook, there is still nothing to witnessing it firsthand.

That's why the fifth and sixth grade teacher at St. Denis Catholic School in Benton likes taking his students to see what he teaches applied in real-life situations. And, that's just what his students and other fifth graders from around Scott County got on Monday at the annual Ecology Day.
