DEXTER -- As the weather begins to heat up, so will the competition on the diamond as the high school baseball district tournaments begin to take place for Classes one, two and three on Monday.
In Class 3, District 1 the No. 2 seed Dexter Bearcats, who is also the host team for the tournament, will begin their quest for a district title by taking on Doniphan at 3 p.m. At 1 p.m. the No. 5 seed New Madrid County Central Eagles will try and upset the No. 4 seed in Fredericktown. The winner of the NMCC/Fredericktown game will take on the No. 1 seeded Notre Dame Bulldogs on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Rounding out the first day of the tournament will be the Kennett Indians and the Caruthersville Tigers at 5 p.m. The semifinals will be on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and the championship game will be played at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
