Emergency responders with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety and South Scott County Ambulance prepare to load Sam Polivick onto a stretcher during a pool safety drill on Friday at the Sikeston YMCA. In the mock accident Polivick, who played the role of a swimmer who stopped breathing, was rescued from the water. Lifeguards, along with the two agencies, went through several situations on Friday to practice their response in a pool emergency.

Drills provide opportunity to check response
SIKESTON -- Practice makes perfect.
That's just what the aquatics staff at the Sikeston YMCA, Sikeston Department of Public Safety and South Scott Ambulance Service worked toward on Friday in a pool safety drill.
