CHARLESTON -- Steven Dooley had everything in his pitching repertoire in full effect on Friday night.
Fastball, curveball or whatever it was, Dooley threw it for strikes.
"Dooley threw the ball great," Squirrels head coach Michael Minner said. "He threw hard, he mixed it up and he was in command."
Dooley carried the Charleston Squirrels past Fulton in the second round of pool play in the 2009 nutsbaseball.com Woodfest with an 11-3 win.
Before even stepping foot on the mound though, Dooley was the beneficiary of four runs from the Squirrels lineup. An RBI single from Zach Rowland, a two RBI single off the bat of Matt Medlock and a run from a Fulton error made up the Squirrels' four runs.
"When your playing in a wood bat game and you throw up four [runs] in the first inning and we've got Steven on the mound, look out," said Minner. "We'll take that any day."
Dooley did not disappoint.
