SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulls tried once more to prove themselves as the comeback kids, but this time the rally fell short by one run as they dropped their first home game of the season. The Tradewater Pirates got the pleasure of handing Sikeston their first home loss as they fended off the ninth inning rally to hold on for a 5-4 win.

From the first crack of the bat it looked like the Pirates may bring some offense as leadoff hitter Sean Mahley roped a double. However, on the slide he overshot the bag and Sikeston second baseman Brian Gose provided the tag to eliminate the early runner in scoring position.

Sikeston starting pitcher Ryan Adams then settled in and shut down the Tradewater offense for the most part of the next few innings.
