RANDLES -- A Benton woman escaped her stalled vehicle before it was struck by a train early today in Cape Girardeau County.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 2:30 a.m., two miles south of Randles, 18-year-old Hannah E. Wrather's vehicle became disabled on the train tracks on Route P at County Road 274. The Benton resident was able to get out of her vehicle before it was struck in the driver's side by a Union Pacific general electric train, the Patrol said. All signal devices including lights and cross arms were activated at the time of the accident.
