Head-on collision injures 4

Dale Matney speaks with Highway Patrol officers following an accident which occurred at 12:37 p.m. Thursday on Highway 61, three-tenths of a mile south of Morley. Matney, who was one of the first of several nearby residents who responded to the accident, said he pulled Chaffee residents Heather A. Wilson, 22, and Ian H. Marsh, 23, from their overturned vehicle. He then had to break the rear glass to help retrieve a child who was trapped in the back. According to the Patrol's report, Michael G. Rysdam, 41, of Morley was driving south when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the northbound vehicle driven by Wilson. Rysdam's vehicle overturned on roadway catching fire. Rysdam was seriously injured and flown by Air Evac to St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. Wilson was moderately injured, Marsh had serious injuries and 2-year-old Maggie S. Marsh, the child passenger in Wilson's vehicle, had minor injuries.They were taken by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
