Sunday, August 16, 2009

SIKESTON --The Kenny Rogers Children's Center always works to stay on the cutting edge and provide state-of-the-art care to the children who receive treatment there. And a course several staff are wrapping up will continue that trend.

"Once they've come back from this training, they'll not only function at a higher level, but also be able to use each other as resources to treat better, do better and ultimately get a better outcome," said Michelle Fayette, executive director of the Center.

Over the summer, seven staff members from the KRCC have participated in a continuing education course to learn about neuro-developmental treatment, also known as the Bobath method. They'll wrap up the intense training on Monday.

"It's the gold standard for pediatric therapists," said Fayette. Once completed, the Center will be the only facility in the state of Missouri to have eight NDT certified therapists.

to charge ahead at a whole new level of understanding and treatment."
