CHAFFEE-- The sights and sounds of football have once again filled the late summer air in southeast Missouri, as Friday's jamborees mark the start of the high school football season.

Charleston, Chaffee, Malden, and Fredricktown were all on hand in Chaffee Friday to participate in a round-robin, 24-play scrimmage, or jamboree.

First year Charleston head coach Jeremy Helton, whose squad is rebounding from last years disappointing 1-9 outing, felt his team has much to take away from Friday's scrimmage.

"We take a lot away from here tonight," Helton said. "I just got done telling the kids that their effort was great. Obviously, we still have some things we have to get cleaned up. I don't think anyone plays in the jamboree and feels they are ready to play in the state championship game."
