BENTON -- One thousand and eighty-five batters went to the plate against Kelly hurler Danielle Dock throughout her career. Three hundred and eighty-one walked right back to the dugout as a strikeout victim.

Dock, the 2009 Standard Democrat softball Player of the Year, wrapped up her season as well as her high school career, in quarterfinal action against Belle High School. She will join the elite group of softball greats from Thomas W. Kelly High School.

"Comparing last year to this year, she was a completely different kid," said Kelly head coach Rhonda Ratledge of Dock. "Last year the nerves settled in a bit because she was a junior making her first varsity appearance. There were seniors on that team that were die-hard softball performers. She felt like she had to perform.

"This year she settled down and her numbers improved. She lowered her walks and hits allowed and her ERA was better. We didn't win as many ballgames this year as last, but overall, she matured as a pitcher on the mound."
