Recipes remembered

Betty Hearnes signs a copy of her new book, "Missouri Sesquicentennial History & Cookbook," Tuesday at Susie's Bake Shoppe in Sikeston. The book is "a history and a cookbook," according to Hearnes, a state legislator from 1979-1989 and Missouri's first lady from 1965-1973. Other local book signings are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the home of Linda Brewer in Charleston where there will also be samples of recipes from the book and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Nutrition Center in East Prairie.
