National, local exhibits track music's roots


CHARLESTON - Area residents are already singing the praises of a special exhibit compiled by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and featured through December at the Mississippi County Library.

Described as an interactive exhibit, "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music," examines the beginnings of American music and how musical genres including gospel, country and blues, have blended in America.
