Traffic safety checkpoints planned for next few weeks

SIKESTON -- In an effort to help make roads safer this holiday season, Sikeston Department of Public Safety will conduct traffic safety checkpoints in the next few weeks.

"The holiday season usually means more vehicles are out on Missouri roads. This is the time of year that people celebrate the holiday season with friends and family. Police know more traffic usually means more accidents," said Sgt. Jim McMillen of DPS.
