SIKESTON -- Sikeston has a new policy for "sharps."

During their monthly regular meeting Monday, the Sikeston City Council approved an amendment to city code allowing residents to dispose of hypodermic needles, lancets used to prick fingers for blood tests and other sharp implements used in medical care known collectively as "sharps" in their household trash as long as they are packaged properly.
