CAPE GIRARDEAU -- For the second straight year the Scott County Central Braves have been selected as the No. 1 seed in the seMissourian Christmas Tournament.
The Braves (5-1) will try to repeat as champions after winning their fifth tournament title in school history last year with an 80-62 win over the No. 2 seed Notre Dame Bulldogs.
Scott Central, who won the Class 1 state championship just a year ago, will open up tournament play on Dec. 26 at 9 a.m. when they take on the No. 16 seeded Kelly Hawks (0-3).
Notre Dame (3-3) will follow with a match-up against the No. 15 seed Scott City (1-3) at 10:30 a.m. while the No. 3 seeded Jackson Indians face off against the Chaffee Red Devils (2-1) at 12 noon. The Charleston Bluejays (3-4) will put their No. 4 seeded squad up against No. 13 Woodland at 1:30 p.m.
And in the night cap, the No. 8 Oran Eagles (4-2) will square off against No. 9 Meadow Heights to conclude day one of the tournament.
The championship game is scheduled for Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
Bloomfield Christmas Tournament
BLOOMFIELD -- After capturing their first championship in 15 years just a season ago, the Bernie Mules will attempt to repeat as tournament champions in the 53rd annual Bloomfield Christmas Tournament.
The No. 1 seeded Bernie defeated the Portageville Bulldogs 69-45 last year and will get things started on Dec. 26 at 9 a.m. against No. 16 seeded East Carter County.
The No. 2 seeded Portageville (3-1), who are coming off of a Class 2 state championship last year, will play No. 15 Greenville at 10:15 a.m.
No. 4 Richland (4-1) will take on the No. 13 seeded Malden at 12:45 p.m. while No. 5 Dexter (1-4) will match-up against Van Buren, who is the No. 12 seed in the tournament.
No. 11 East Prairie (1-4) will take on the No. 6 seeded Bloomfield Wildcats at 4 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start on Dec. 30.
Twin Rivers Lady Royal Classic
Broseley -- Just a year removed from being crowned the Twin Rivers Lady Royal Classic champions, the Dexter Lady Bearcat will again try to accomplish that feat as the No. 4 seed of the tournament.
Dexter (3-4), who finished fourth in the Class 4 state tournament last year and have won the last three Lady Royal Classics, will play the East Carter County Lady Redbirds at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 19.
As the No. 3 seed, the Charleston Lady Bluejays (4-0) will square off against the No. 14 seed Portageville Lady Bulldogs at 3 p.m.
The Kelly Lady Hawks (4-1) are the No. 6 seed in the tournament and will play No. 11 Malden at 4:30 p.m.
No. 9 New Madrid County Central will take on No. 8 Senath-Hornersville at 10:30 a.m. while the No. 15 seeded Sikeston Lady Bulldogs (1-2) play the No. 2 seed Kennett in the
final game of the first day at 7:30 p.m.
The Neelyville Lady Tigers stand as the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will play No. 16 Clearwater at 9 a.m.
The championship game will be played on Dec. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
