SCC gets 85-67 win at Eiffel Tower Shootout

PERRYVILLE -- The Charleston Bluejays came within just three points of their first ever win at the Heartland Hoopfest in Perryville on Saturday

The Bluejays had a last second opportunity to try and tie the game but a buzzer-beating 3-pointer was off the mark and Charleston fell 69-66 to Whitfield at the Perry Park Center.

Gregory Tucker led the Bluejays with 23 points while Deonte Jones added 17. Both Tucker and Jones hit two 3-pointers.

The Bluejays held a 35-34 lead at the half but was outscored 19-15 in the third quarter which led to the 3-point difference.

Charleston has never won at the Heartland Hoopfest.

The Jackson Indians upset the defending Class 3 state champion Maplewood-Richmond Heights on Saturday with a 55-48 win.

Bobby Clark led the Indians with 24 points. Henrie Williams chipped in with 11.

At the half, Jackson held a 22-17 lead and outscored the Blue Devils 20-18 in the final quarter.

The Cape Central Tigers took care of the Farmington Knights in a 74-45 rout.

Junior James Lane led the Tigers with 23 points while Kevin Casasola gave his squad 18. Blake Ozbun and Andrew Williams each added 10 points a piece as well.

Eiffel Tower Shootout

SCC 85, North Side 67

PARIS, Tenn. -- The Scott County Central Braves defeated the North Side Indians 85-67 on Saturday afternoon in the Eiffel Tower Shootout at Henry County High School.

The Braves had to overcome an early nine-point deficit that they suffered in the first few minutes of the first quarter with a late 12-3 run to tie the game at 18 at the end of one.

Scott Central gained a four-point lead, 41-37, at the end of the first half.

The Braves finished the final eight minutes with a 30-16 outscoring of the Indians to put the game away.

Junior Otto Porter led the Braves with 31 points, 20 rebounds and eight steals. Senior Bobby Hatchett finished with 21 points.

Scott Central (6-1) will be back in action on Dec. 26 against the Kelly Hawks as they try to defend their seMissourian Christmas tournament championship.
