Herrin, Ill. -- The Sikeston Bulldog wrestling team came right out of the holiday season and got back to their winning ways on Saturday as they went undefeated at the Herrin Duals Tournament in Herrin, Ill.
The Bulldogs went 4-0-1 against the five teams they faced tying with Murphysboro, 39-39.
"We had a very good day," Sikeston head coach Seth Harrell said. "We haven't wrestled in two weeks, but you still have to practice and work during the holidays. I thought that we handled it very well. I was impressed with how our kids wrestled today. Anytime you wrestle five teams in one day and don't lose, I think you have to feel pretty good about it."
Sikeston defeated Carterville, Centralia, Johnson City and West Frankfort.
Blake Angle, Jacob Stinnett, Dustin Wells and Kenton Robinson all went undefeated as well. Cody Middleton, Dustin Ruby and Clayton Driskill all went 4-1 throughout the tournament.
Individually, the Bulldogs were 45-15 during the tournament.
Sikeston is 14-1-1 in head-to-head duals on the season.
"Things are going to start to pick up over the next month," said Harrell. "As the season goes on, the competition continues to get tougher and tougher. I am confident that we are up for the challenges that lay ahead."
