Residents can get city news via text

PORTAGEVILLE -- The Portageville Police Department is urging city residents to sign up for its new notification service.

"Nixle," which the department plans to implement Friday, will enable authorities to send text messages and e-mails to people who are signed up to alert them about things happening in the city, according to a Monday news release.
