SHS wrestlers place fourth in Vianney tourney

VIANNEY -- The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team finished in fourth place at the Vianney Wrestling Tournament in St. Louis over the weekend.

To go along with there fourth place finish, there were also five medalist.

Blake Angle won his 112 weight division for the only first place medal. Cody Middleton (103), Jacob Stinnett (119), Dustin Wells (135) and Kenton Robinson (145) each placed second in their respective weight classes. Heavyweight Josh Carlyle came away with a fourth place finish.

The host team, Vianney won the team championship with a 129 score. Desmet came in second with a 126.5 while St. Louis University High won third with 100 points. Sikeston had a total of 95 points to claim a fourth place finish.

The Bulldogs were the only Class 3 school in the top seven while the remaining are in the biggest Class 4 classification.
