DEXTER -- The Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team ended up with a seventh place finish at the SEMO Conference Tournament on Saturday in Dexter.
The Bulldogs finished with a total of 157 points and placed eight wrestlers out of the 11 that attended.
Blake Angle, Dusty Ruby and Kenton Robinson each finished in fourth place in their respective weight divisions. Jacob Stinnett finished in fifth place in the 119 weight class while Cody Middleton, Dustin Wells, Clayton Driskill and Ben Walker each ended with a sixth place finish in their weight divisions.
"This is a very tough and physical tournament," Sikeston wrestling coach Seth Harrell said. "We wrestled well at times, but we are making too many mistakes that ends up costing us. We have to wrestle smarter in order to give ourselves a chance to be successful."
The host team, Farmington, came away with the SEMO Conference title with a total of 434 points. Jackson, Ste. Genevieve, Poplar Bluff and Cape Central round out the top five finishers.
"I thought that as a team we would have a good shot at finishing in the top six," Harrell said. "When its all said and done, we missed it by 6 points. At the same time, we placed eight out of 11 guys in the top six. That's not bad."
Sikeston will be hosting Anna-Jonesboro on Wednesday in their next match.
