Risco, NMCC boys post wins; Chaffee falls

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers improved to 7-6 and 4-2 in the Tri-County Conference with a 62-50 win over Gideon Tuesday night.

The Tigers trailed 13-11 heading into the second quarter but a 20-6 run in the second helped put Risco in front for good.

"We started moving the ball well and finally started hitting some shots," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship of his team's second quarter. "We really got the inside-outside game going."

While the Risco offense was moving the ball and getting good shots, their defense was also playing well.

"Our defense was some of the best it was all season," Blankenship said. "We were solid all game and we rebounded well too."

Risco was led in scoring by Williams' 20 while Brandon Bennett had 19 and Chris Pavy 10.

The Tigers also won the junior varsity game 65-49 improving to 6-2 and 3-1 in the Tri-County Conference. Pavy had 20 to lead Risco.

The Tigers will be back in action Friday when they travel to Southland.
