SIKESTON -- Home is where the wins are for the Sikeston Bulldogs wrestling team. On Thursday evening, the Bulldogs downed the visiting Notre Dame Bulldogs 47-22 for their fifth win at home and their 15th team win over, improving to 15-5-1 on the season.

Two key moves in weight classes put head coach Seth Harrell and his Sikeston Bulldogs in prime position for the victory.

Blake Angle was the first to move up a class, jumping to 119 to wrestle Brady Vetter from Notre Dame. Angle picked up five points in the victory.

The other key move was Jacob Stinnett, who made the transition to 125 where he defeated Notre Dame's Austin Kight with a pin in the second period.

"We moved some people around tonight," said Harrell after the match. "We moved two spots tonight so they could wrestle different kids. We've seen them several times this year so this move worked out well. Both of the kids won."

Another highlight for the home team was the final match of the evening in the 189 class where Austin Henson finished strong against Notre Dame's Ryan Harter, earning the win.

"That last match, in 189, we've lost to that kid (Harter) twice, but we beat him here tonight," Harrell said. "So, it was good to see that improvement there. We've lost to him several times but to beat him 4-3, that's good.

"I really thought the team wrestled great. Not just that match, but every match before it."

Sikeston also saw wins from Kenton Robinson, who defeated Notre Dame's Nathan Davis via pin in the second period, from Tyrone Webb, who pinned Notre Dame's Alan Judd and from Greg Hale who held off Notre Dame's James Holloway through three periods.

The red and black Bulldogs will head north to wrestle in a tournament in DeSoto today and will be back in action in the area in a dual-meet with New Madrid County Central and Dexter next Tuesday.
