Games postponed

SIKESTON -- Snowfall around the area has led to the cancellation of several local basketball games around the area for tonight and this weekend.

The homecoming game between Sikeston and Kelly tonight has been postponed with no make-up expected. Also postponed is Kennett at Charleston and East Prairie at Hayti with no make-up dates announced.

Risco's game at Southland for tonight was also postponed and is rescheduled for Feb. 4 in Southland.

The finals at the Stoddard County basketball tournament have been rescheduled to Feb. 3 at Bloomfield. Puxico and Bloomfield will play in the third place junior varsity game at 4 p.m. while Bloomfield and Richland will play the varsity third place game at 5 p.m. The junior varsity and varsity championship games will be between Bernie and Dexter and will be at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The basketball game between New Madrid County Central and Scott County Central to be played in Memphis on Saturday has also been postponed. The game will be played Feb. 4 at New Madrid. Anyone who shows their Memphis Grizzlies ticket will be allowed into the game free.

The Coaches v. Cancer Shootout scheduled for Saturday in Charleston was postponed and is rescheduled for Feb. 13. There will be four girls games starting off the day with Twin Rivers v. Woodland at 1 p.m. followed by Delta v. Naylor at 2:30 p.m. East Prairie will take on Greenville at 4 p.m. and the Charleston girls will then take on Maplewood-Richmond Heights at 5:30 p.m. The Charleston boys will end the night with a game against Maplewood-Richmond Heights that is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Charleston High School office and any tickets purchased for the originally scheduled games will be honored.

The Meadow Heights at East Prairie girls, originally scheduled for Thursday, will now take place on Feb. 23.

The junior varsity SEMO wrestling tournament has also been canceled.
