BENTON -- The Scott County Highway Department will soon return to their summer work schedule.
"On April 5, the highway department will go to four 10-hour days: Monday through Thursday, from 6 a.m. till 4:30 p.m.," Presiding Commissioner Jamie Burger said during Tuesday's County Commission meeting.
The warmer weather of spring and summer is, for the highway department, blacktopping and mowing season.
"We feel like we can get more accomplished in the daylight hours," Burger said.
"We get a lot more productivity, we get a lot more done when it's 10 hours," Commissioner Donnie Kiefer agreed. "Those two extra hours make a lot of difference when you have the equipment out there already."
