Carol Messmer fastens the lining in the casket of "Jim Razor," who will be buried Saturday as part of Benton's Sesquicentennial celebration activities, as men "bury" their razors in a beard-growing contest set to wrap up Labor Day weekend. The Founder's Day celebration will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Courthouse and include proclamations, history, dignitary speeches, music and more. Lunch items will also be available for sale. In case of rain, the event will be at the St. Denis Parish Center.
