Storms took their toll in Southeast Missouri over the weekend, with East Prairie reporting some of the worst damage. Utility crews continued their work Sunday afternoon on Washington Street, near the intersection with Highway 105 after the winds ripped down power lines. The high winds damaged numerous buildings, farm sheds and even the East Prairie Police Station received damaged after the roof was ripped away. The storm was part of a system that spawned tornadoes in Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama and caused damaging high winds in Georgia and South Carolina.
