Chaffee squeezes out win over Panthers

CHAFFEE -- Three squeeze bunts ended up being the difference in the Chaffee Red Devils' 6-3 victory over the Meadow Heights Panthers in eight innings on Friday night during the Chaffee Round Robin Baseball Tournament.

With a 2-2 tie going into the eighth inning, Alex Davie squeezed in the deciding run. Jared Walker added some insurance runs with another squeeze to help insure the win.

Chaffee's Andrew Dooley and Meadow Height's Cody Kennedy both went the distance in another head-to-head battle. Both struck out 12 batters.

Joshua Hendrix led the Red Devils with two hits and an RBI.

In other Round Robin action, St. Vincent defeated the Puxico Indians 10-0 and Meadow Heights also beat Puxico 10-5.

SCC 29, Richland 1

ESSEX -- The Scott County Central Braves trounced the Richland Rebels 29-1 on Friday afternoon in five innings.

For the second time this year, Josh Boese hit for the cycle while Bryan Freed got the win on the hill striking out eight.

The Braves are now 7-5 on the year and will host Scott City on Monday.
