PERKINS -- Members of the Perkins Park Board are enlisting the help of other community residents and those who live nearby to help make their dream of creating a park a reality.
"This is something we've been working on for over a year," said Will Yates, a member of the Board. "I've grown up here and lived here all my life. We've never had a park in this town, and we think the kids deserve one."
To get a better sense of what people want, the Park Board is hosting a meeting, open to the public, at 5:05 p.m. Friday behind the Perkins Baptist Church. Member Suzanne Menz said "anyone with questions or concerns" is invited to attend.
"Right now we just want to get people to come out and be involved," said Martin Hircock, another board member. "We want to hear their input and talk about how to proceed."
