PORTAGEVILLE -- Portageville's Kaitlyn Nowlin signed her letter of intent to play both softball and volleyball at Crowley's Ridge College on Monday.
Nowlin, a multi-sport athlete for the Lady Bulldogs, chose Crowley's Ridge based on their religious affiliations.
"It has my religion involved with it," she said. "Plus, I get along with the girls good too."
Crowley's Ridge, a private, four-year school located in Paragould, Ark., is in their sixth year with the softball program. The softball and volleyball programs are both coached by Cindy Henry, a graduate of Crowley's Ridge herself.
"She's got a good attitude," Henry said about Nowlin. "She's fun and friendly and just wants to play. She's a hard worker and that's what we're looking for."
Making several visits to the campus already, Henry said that Nowlin has already fit in with the rest of the Lady Pioneers which is a big thing to her.
"We have a lot of girls coming in and we'll just have to see how they mesh," Henry said. "(Nowlin) is going to fit in perfect. She's made visits to the college already and the girls love her.
"I think it's going to be a great atmosphere for us and the ball team. I think we're going to mesh well."
Crowley's Ridge participates in the Division I National Christian College Athletic Association.
