R-6 school district seeks nominations

Sunday, May 30, 2010

SIKESTON -- Sikeston R-6 School District is looking for more names to add to its Hall of Fame/Honor Wall, which is already home to over 150 plaques recognizing individuals and teams who've offered service to the district.

"Roger Sherman started this in 1995, and it has been wonderful," said Pat Taylor, member of the Hall of Fame/Honor Wall Committee. "It really recognizes those who have put forth service in the community or excelled in one way or another -- whether in sports or to the school or community."

For about 15 years the Sikeston R-6 Honor Wall has recognized individuals and/or teams for their service and/or achievement to the district while the Hall of Fame recognizes athletes and/or teams who have received state honors or beyond. Past graduates must be out of school for at least five years before being eligible for nomination.

Since its beginning about 135 individuals and 24 teams have been inducted into either the Hall of Fame and Honor Wall.
