Both teams plated a run in the first inning, but Poplar Bluff broke the 1-1 tie in the top of the fourth when they plated three runs, highlighted by singles from Sawyer Smith and Todd Bullington.
However, Dunklin County answered in the bottom of the fourth with five runs when Jordan Carter and Trey Bazzell both singled to start the frame. Tyler Thompson then singled, plating Carter. Zach Watkins then reached on an error, plating Bazzell and Garrett Stockton followed with a single, scoring Thompson. Joe Campbell then drove in Bazzell and Stockton with a double to finish off the scoring, giving Dunklin County a 6-4 advantage.
Dunklin County added two more in both the fifth and sixth innings, giving themselves a comfortable 10-5 lead going into the top of the seventh.
Poplar Bluff wouldn't go quietly however, as the Express put together a two out rally, starting when Bryn Hester was hit by a pitch. Poplar Bluff then drew three-straight walks that forced Hester home, bringing the tying run to the plate. Dunklin County was able to regain control however and forced a groundout to end the game.
Dylan Lynn earned the win for Dunklin County, allowing four runs giving up three hits and four walks while striking out five. Quinton Stevens took the loss for Poplar Bluff.
