Rains reduce wheat harvest

Farmers are taking advantage of recent dry weather to bring in their wheat crops. David Kennedy cuts wheat on a field owned by Lee Kennedy and located off Route BB between East Prairie and New Madrid. Kennedy said yields from the field should be about 70 bushels per acre.

Harvest is projected to be less than typical

SIKESTON -- Farmers have been out in the fields harvesting their wheat crop for about a week now.

And although yields are above average, this year's harvest is projected to be far less than typical, due to fewer acres being planted.
