Grant application for gender-specific program gets OK'd

CHARLESTON -- If funded, gender-specific programming offered through Mississippi County's juvenile detention facility could help girls grow into womanhood.

During their regular meeting Thursday, Mississippi County commissioners gave the OK to Kevin Hess, superintendent of the juvenile detention facility, to apply for a federal grant offered through the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
